A predictive distribution model for Andinomys edax (Rodentia: Cricetidae) in Argentina Mastozool. neotrop.
Jayat,Pablo; Pacheco,Silvia; Ortiz,E..
We studied the distribution of Andinomys edax (Rodentia, Cricetidae, Sigmodontinae) in northwestern Argentina. Presence data obtained from field records, museum specimens and literature were used to model the potential distribution of this species. Andinomys edax was known in Argentina from only 41 occurrence localities, most of them restricted to Jujuy province. Here we add new localities from Catamarca, Jujuy, Salta and Tucumán provinces. We used the maximum entropy method (Maxent) and seven environmental variables to produce a potential distribution map of the species. The 7.015 cumulative threshold (corresponding to the equal test of sensitivity and specificity) was the most efficient hypothetical distribution according to the omission rate. The area...

FIRST RECORD OF THE NEOLICAPHRIUM RECENS FRENGUELLI, 1921 (MAMMALIA, LITOPTERNA) IN THE PLEISTOCENE OF SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO PROVINCE, ARGENTINA Pap. Avulsos de Zool. (São Paulo)
GAUDIOSO,PABLO J.; GASPARINI,GERMÁN M.; HERBST,RAFAEL; BARQUEZ,RUBÉN M..
ABSTRACT The first record of the Neolicaphrium recens Frenguelli, 1921 (Mammalia, Litopterna) from Pleistocene deposits of the Río Dulce, Rio Hondo Department, Santiago del Estero Province, Argentina, is reported. The morphology and morphometry observed in the specimen MPAT073 is coincident with the diagnostic characteristics of that species. This finding represents the northernmost and westernmost record of the species, and thus extends its geographical distribution. Geological data suggest that the material comes from a still unnamed Pleistocene stratigraphic unit.

Fossil record of the Andean rat, Andinomys edax (Rodentia: Cricetidae), in Argentina Mastozool. neotrop.
Ortiz,Pablo E.; Jayat,J. Pablo.
Andinomys edax (Rodentia, Cricetidae) has a broad distribution in the Central Andean region. The fossil record is restricted to only three localities from Lower-Middle Pleistocene in Bolivia to Upper Holocene in Argentina. Recent field work in northwestern Argentina produced five new paleontological localities: Las Juntas, Catamarca (13.4 - 12.95 kyr BP); Inca Cueva 4, Jujuy (11 - 9 kyr BP); Tafí del Valle, Tucumán (10.25 - 9.75 kyr BP); Los Viscos, Catamarca (1.88 kyr bp); and La Cueva, Jujuy (0.95 kyr BP). The paleontological data indicate that A. edax has been a ubiquitous sigmodontine in northwestern Argentina since the Upper Pleistocene.

Interannual and seasonal variability of macroinvertebrates in monsoonal climate streams BABT
Mesa,Leticia Mariana.
The aim of this study was to assess the interannual and seasonal changes in the community composition, abundance and presence-absence of macroinvertebrates in the streams of the northwestern of Argentina. The importance of environmental variability in determining these changes was also analyzed. Macroinvertebrates were collected in eleven streams during high (March) and low (September) water periods during two years. Physical variables and water parameters were also recorded at each site. Community composition and abundance differed significantly between seasons, but the presence-absence data did not exhibit a clear pattern of seasonal change. Rapid recolonization of disturbed substrate could ensure the recuperation of benthic community. Small body sizes,...

Taxonomic position and phylogenetic relationships of the bivalve Goniophorina Isberg, 1934, and related genera from the early Ordovician of northwestern Argentina Ameghiniana
Sánchez,Teresa M..
On the basis of collections from Tremadoc and Arenig successions of northwestern Argentina, the affinities of Goniophorina Isberg, 1934, are reassessed. Studied material includes ucumariids, lipanellids, Goniophorina , and other specimens for which the new genus Lossella is proposed with the new species L . juancruzi sp. nov. as type species. Goniophorina and Lossella are grouped in the new family Goniophorinidae. Synapomorphies of goniophorinids, ucumariids, and lipanellids lead to the conclusion that Goniophorina integrates a major group of edentulous bivalves, a lineage of which -the ucumariidsprobably gave rise to Anomalodesmata. This fauna represents a rapid, local diversification event that is part of the west-Gondwanan bivalve radiation during the...
